Date Night "I'm on a boat!"

On this day the plan was a nice boat ride and then dinner with my friend Marlon. We set sail that day for a 3 hour tour around the San Diego Bay, at first I was worried about the weather, the day started off pretty cloudy but cleared up beautifully once we got to the dock.

I picked him up and he then warned me that he was hungry and was going to be grumpy if he didn't eat before the boat ride...3 hours with Mr. Grumpy Pants?...uhmm no thank you, we stopped off at Carl's Jr where he said "way to be a bitch" because he didn't like the way I said "hold on" to the girl in the drive-thru intercom (he brought this up a couple more times during the day)...then while driving to the dock he commented on how annoying the way I popped my gum is (which I also got to hear about repeatedly through out the day) and how annoying my ringtone is (super mario brothers) by the way I love my ringtone but I put my phone on silent after that....we were off to a fantastic start.
We made it to the dock right on time, Marlon quickly went into a near by store to get some beer for the trip. One of my friends, Mia also showed up with her boyfriend and their kids. We all boarded the boat, met up with Ed (the one who invited us on the boat) said our hellos.

This is Ed, he's a little camera shy

Marlon was kind enough to give a beer to Ed and myself then we made our way to the bow (the front of the boat) and waited to take off.
It really turned out to be a beautiful day, very little clouds in the sky.. we went past sea lions lounging in the sun..
Then we went past Ballast Point, Marlon got excited that he was drinking Ballast Point while we road past Ballast Point

We went past many other ships where Marlon needed to wave at all of them and get those people to wave back
here he is waving to police on a boat...one of the few that did not wave back
we went under the Coronado Bridge...which is not all that pretty when going underneath it

we went past the Hotel Del Coronado, then past a cruise ship taking off, past seaport village, past Downtown...

Back to our dock...where this little guy followed us all the way back

One the way back to the car Marlon yawned and said how exhausted he was so I wasn't going to push dinner...new plan:drop him off and call Shealyn.
Marlon enjoyed waving to all the people on the water so much he decided to continue it on the freeway, waving to every car we passed and learning that land people are not as friendly and water people...especially when the last person he waved to was some snot nosed punk kids who flipped him off. Once Marlon got out of the car I called up my favorite dinner date gal, Shealyn to see what she was up to because I was STARVING. She was in the car with some of my other favorite people (Andy, Kara and Dickie Biggins) on their way to Kansas City BBQ, I drove over to join them.

We got to the place where the sleazy bar scene of Top Gun was filmed and waited for a table for 5...the host trying to convince us to eat outside so we didn't have to wait, but it was getting cold and Kara wanted us to get the experience of eating inside because we haven't been there before but the hostess said she would turn on the heater and we would be warm and that we can go look inside, we trusted her and sat outside.

We waited and talked looking over the menu, I have never been here before and so I asked what everyone else was getting, Kara was apparently the one to ask, she had an answer for everyone's questions...I thought about getting mac and cheese but Shealyn said no, that if I want make and cheese she will make me mac and cheese, so fine I copied Kara's meal and made it easy on myself. Our waitress got our drink order, the girls had beer and the boys had water....although Andy kept talking about getting a corona. Another waitress came by to get our drink order and we explained that someone came by she kinda got a little bothered by that...seemed that everyone here was new and the heater was still not on.
We got our drinks and Andy started complaining about not getting the corona he didn't order, we had to explain that he talked about it but never actually ordered it, he stopped. Our waitress came back to get our order...we then asked her about the heater, she took off for 10 minutes to investigate....maybe we should have ordered first.
Finally the heaters kick on and the waitress comes back, Kara and I ordered a pulled pork sandwich and rings, Shealyn ordered the same with mac and cheese, the boys ordered a large meal and of course Shealyn and I ordered some chili cheese fries to share.
The food arrives and I was surprised to see the BBQ sauce was on the side not on the sandwich, which I thought was cool that I am in control of the amount of sauce I want on my sandwich, and my onion rings were pretty awesome.
I got to try Shealyn's mac and cheese, which I was glad she didn't let me get because it really wasn't that good, too grainy...she then shot back "it's not velveeta" :P The chili cheese fries were not that good either, I'm kinda picky, I felt there was not much flavor and very little cheese....you know I like my cheese.
The sandwich was good and we all pretty much cleaned our plates, even the boys.
Andy showing us how no one can look manly sipping through a straw
All and all it was a good night, good food and great friends.....
